I was sooo excited when they just opened since they are right near my house. I even went in on day they were open to tell them. I ordered and picked up since so close. When I arrived, someone was bitching how their pizza was screwed up..The staff didnt care. Also, they seemed to not know who was suppose to do what. I had to call them over to collect my money and gave up on getting change..eh 60 cents so no big deal. What was a big deal was pizza not fully cooked and barely had ingrediants. It was like the staff was undertrained or purposely sabotaged pizza. I didnt bother calling since if I gave name who knows how my next pizza will be made. Pappa Johns was great in East Lansing but completely sucks in Royal Oak. Someone needs to revamp their quality control!!!

I have had better. I started ordering from here around the time of the super bowl. EVERY TIME I order from here even with stating specifically that the crust should be well done it isn't. I have had orders screwed up when I ask for bell pepper and get banana pepper. The chicken wings aren't too bad I must admit. They are meaty. The only reason I don't give this more stars is because I have not only ordered over the phone but online and have had my orders screwed up. The best thing about this place is that they deliver until 11 p.m. on weekdays which is helpful to me when I work late and don't have time for anything else. would I recommend this though? NO! until they understand how to cook a pizza with the proper toppings and understand what light sauce and well done means, I will not tell a friend they should try this place. If you are drunk and don't care about what you're eating, or like the deals they offer for their sub-par pizza sure. I for one will only order from them as a last resort. don't get me started on the parking either. You are better off getting delivery. this place is right off woodward so the traffic is pretty busy. again go with delivery.

Got the free pizza and a 2 liter from the super bowl promo and i'm glad the only thing i wasted was gas. The first pizza was so black I refused to take it. It took so long for the second pizza I didn't check it good enough, shame on me, it wasn't burned but it had almost no sauce and was covered in grease. They had no 2 liter but let me take 4 of the 20oz so that wasn't too bad. They don't have to worry about me going back there, what should have been a 20 minute pickup turned into an hour and 2 pizzas.

Ordered a large pepperoni pizza and cookie pizza for carry out the other day. I went over after 10 minutes, I only had to wait 2-3 minutes for everything to be done. The guy running the store had some special going on so I was able to get both pizzas and 3 small pops for under $22!! The store was extremely clean, behind the counter was very organized and the guy running the store was super friendly! Very pleased with my quick service and great customer service!

Awesome, four guys working in there and they all worked on my large order. Pizza's were done in 15 min. Offered me everything from extra napkins to plates to take home. Got them done with extra sauce and extra crispy... came out perfect. Thanks guys.

Got another free pie promotion bullshit email so, to my wife's dismay, I went for it. It was better than the first time but still pretty mediocre....nothing special. I thought it was funny that my promo code for my free wheel only allowed me the basic toppings (I was hoping to check out the meatballs on my pie....the only place close that will do that is Capri....oh, wait....I think Cottage Inn has meatballs too. I dunno.) At any rate, don't believe the hype....NOT better ingredients & definitely NOT better pizza.

Surprised by all the negative reviews. One of the best pizza delivery places around. I think it's DELICIOUS! :)

Good for a pizza chain. Lack of salads on the menu is puzzling. The pizza is consistently good. Really enjoy the bread sticks and garlic dip. The staff is typical of this type of business but are courteous and attentive.

Let me just say first off, that I normally love Papa Johns. I cant actually think of a bad pizza I have had from there with the exception of anything that comes from the Location in Royal Oak. I have had an issue each time I ordered from there and the one time I finally called back to tell them there had been a mistake they assured me that it was my problem. Im not asking for my money back, I am not even asking for a coupon, I am just asking to speak to someone who is not arrogant and will issue a simple apology. Go to any other Papa Johns than this one.

  • Terri W.

Nothing to complain about but nothing to brag about either. Pizza was good, not too greasy and totally edible. Probably would not be first choice without a great coupon.

First let me say I did read the reviews and thought they were maybe a little harsh because the place just opened....NOPE they were right!! That has gotta be the worse pizza I have had in a long time, the toppings were sparse and a minimal sprinkling of veggies with very few pepperonis and the thin crust was soggy. I felt sick to my stomach afterwards for a couple of hours and threw out the rest of the pizza in the garbage. Next I used a groupon which I paid $10 for a $20 coupon and when I went to pay they snaked me for more money saying "that pricing you were quoted was the sale price and you can only use your groupon at full price" never ever heard that before that was a new low from a vendor using this form of advertising. Don't go here, don't use groupon for a coupon for this place! This place is pure crap along with some of the gnarly looking help they have there making the pizza....CAN ANYONE SAY HAND WASHING?? Once your there and notice them it's too late to turn back and leave "ICK" .......buyer beware.........

Living in the Great White North, you learn to long for certain iconic American things. Target. Trader Joe's. In and Out Burger. Papa John's. One of the great benefits of moving south of the border and giving up my inexpensive upper education, free health care, and various benefits was supposed to be the promise of delicious pizza whenever I wanted it. I was introduced to a damn fine Papa John's joint in Kansas, possibly the founding one, and the pizza sang to my unpizza-loving soul enough to be a standby. That piping hot smell of dough and tomato sauce deserves some loving. Royal Oak finally got a Papa John's after forever and a day. Next thing you know, we were lining up to order a pizza along with everyone, their dog, and their grandma. We chalked up the first mistakes to being very busy, very new, and inexperienced. The half and half veggie/meat turned out to be all meat with green peppers. It was our pizza, we checked, and the online order apparently got munged. Not the end of the world though no effort was made to change the price. The second time around, the pizza was squishy as though not done, the toppings were limp and faintly baked. We shoved the pizza in the oven for another 15 minutes to try to finish it, but there was no redeeming that sad pie. The crust was still doughy in a bad way, the sauce tasted far too oversalted and practically slid like tomato juice straight off the crust, and the toppings were either burnt, wilted, or slopped from a can somewhere. You can do a lot better than this, particularly with Crispelli's maybe a mile away and plenty of decent joints around the city.

By far the worst customer service I have ever had. Manager was defensive blaming the online system which requires you to call to fix errors. Was not willing to correct error. The first and last time ordering from papa johns. Stay away from the Woodward location! It is a franchise. After paying for 1 large pizza and gave a $5 tip for delivery ordered Hungry Howies with excellent service.

  • Richard W.

Online ordering is a joke. This store has it set up so whatever promotion they email you about has a higher price. I had an online code for a free pizza and this store added a $5 minimum additional order to it. When I arrived at the store, they charged me the $5 +/- for the additonal order and then give me only the additonal stuff, no pizza! The response from the manager was "it's not my fault you don't know how to use our website" and he only refunded my money because I refused to leave unless he did. Calling Papa John's corporate office gets nothing but unfulfilled empty promises that someone will get back with you.....2 months later no one has. This store is not going to be open for very long.

i should of read the reviews of this place...actually i should of did a lot of things but did not. so it was Valentine's Day and kids wanted to get a heart pizza which came with the dessert cinnamon sticks. was told it was going to be 1.5 hrs wait for pick up due to being busy. "did i still want it?" they asked. i should of said no....my 1st mistake. ordered it with peperoni and though it was ready when i picked it up it was wrong, it was JUST cheese and i didn't look at it till i got home...mistake #2 pizza didn't look like the heart they advertised (see picture and tell me what u think) and to top it off the dessert was hard and burnt and just got thrown out.....mistake #3 not calling and complaining

STAY AWAY. So gross! Seriously terrible pizza! Slimy, undercooked, flavorless, runny-sauced... absolutely disgusting! The best part was the red pepper and parmesan packets but it still didnt help. Ordered a 6-cheese pizza with chicken, mushrooms and tomatoes on all. Pineapple and green peppers on one half, black olives and banana peps on the other half. Two tiny pieces of chicken on it, very little mushroom and the pieces were so small I didnt I almost didnt see those either. Did someone soak the pineapple in water for a week before putting them on this pizza? Also, they randomly included 2 dry, leathery pepperoncinis on the side... did they think that was going to make up for the bad pizza or something? I ate one piece and my stomach hurts badly. Just looking at it made my appetite go away. And I have a stomach of steel. Dont order from here. You will be sorry :(

Ordered 16 buffalo wings. Got home and had 13. Was going to call and say something, but looked at their reviews here and decided not to bother. Oh, and the 13 wings were scrawny and not much flavor either. Pizza was so-so.
